[Exclusive] Joint Investigation Team on Religious-Political Collusion to Summon Former Congressman Kim Kyu-hwan on the 25th
The joint investigation team probing religious-political collusion will summon former Congressman Kim Kyu-hwan for questioning regarding alleged political funding from the Unification Church.
The joint investigation team, led by Chief Prosecutor Kim Tae-hoon, is investigating allegations of political bribery involving the Unification Church. On the 25th, they plan to summon Kim Kyu-hwan, the current president of the Korea Coal Corporation and former member of the now-defunct Future Unity Party, to question him about whether he received any funds from the Unification Church. This comes after former Unification Church leader Yoon Young-ho testified last year that he had given money to Kim in connection with the 2020 general elections. The police, who took over the investigation from a special prosecutor's team, reported that Kim received an illegal political donation of 30 million won during the church event in Gapyeong.
