Fresh forecast: Up to 20 centimeters of snow in the south
A weather forecast indicates that Southern Finland could see up to 20 centimeters of snow by the end of the week, primarily on Thursday.
According to Foreca's weather blog, Southern Finland is expected to receive significant snowfall this week, with predictions suggesting that Thursday could bring between 10 to 20 centimeters of snow in various regions. The heaviest snowfall is anticipated in southeastern areas, while the central and northern parts of the country will also see smaller accumulations of 5 to 15 centimeters.
The incoming snowstorm, which originates in the south and west, is expected to impact driving conditions significantly across Finland, as noted by meteorologist Joanna Rinne. Areas can expect not just heavy snowfall but also the possibility of freezing rain, which could create hazardous conditions for motorists. The forecast highlights the need for caution on the roads, particularly given the timing of the storm.
After Thursday's snow, additional precipitation is expected from Friday night into Sunday morning, with some regions continuing to experience substantial snow. As the rain spreads northward, it is likely to become mixed precipitation in southern and western Finland, accentuating the need for ongoing weather awareness amid changing conditions throughout the weekend.
