Poor driving conditions in Southern Finland – up to 10 centimeters of snow
Southern Finland is experiencing poor driving conditions due to significant snowfall, with some areas receiving up to 10 centimeters.
In Southern Finland, today's weather has led to poor driving conditions because of heavy snowfall. According to Yle's meteorologist Elias Paakkanen, snowfall over the past 24 hours has exceeded predictions, with parts of Uusimaa receiving close to 10 centimeters of snow and other areas in Southern Finland also accumulating around five centimeters. As a result, road safety has been compromised, leading to warnings for drivers to be cautious on the roads.
Paakkanen noted that while the snow is expected to continue in the south, it will gradually lessen throughout the day. Drivers are advised to prepare for challenging conditions as visibility may also be reduced. However, the forecast suggests that the weather may clear by evening, allowing for improved driving conditions later.
Elsewhere in Finland, the weather remains fair with clear skies and good driving conditions, contrasting sharply with the conditions in the south. This divergence in weather across the country highlights the localized impact of winter storms and the need for continuous monitoring of road conditions as the season progresses.
