On Monday, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) of Latvia reported several injuries from fires occurring throughout the country. The first major incident took place at a two-storey residential building on Čiekurkalna 2. līnijā in Riga, where a sofa and household items were engulfed in flames on the second floor. Firefighters rescued a person from the burning apartment and an additional individual from another flat, while several residents managed to evacuate before emergency services arrived. The quick response from VUGD was crucial in preventing further casualties.

Later in the evening, another fire broke out in a single-storey residential house in Nagļu pagasts in Rēzekne municipality. The blaze, which also involved a garage and a light vehicle, covered an area of 250 square meters. A neighbor played a key role in the rescue by saving an injured person before firefighters arrived on the scene, and this individual was subsequently handed over to medical personnel for treatment. The prompt actions of bystanders, alongside the firefighters, helped mitigate the situation.

Throughout the night, VUGD responded to various incidents, including a fire in an unoccupied structure on Paula Lejiņa street in Jelgava, where waste was ablaze. Emergency responders evacuated three individuals who were affected by smoke inhalation and provided them with medical care. In total, VUGD received 43 emergency calls, indicating a heightened level of incidents requiring their intervention, underscoring the importance of fire safety awareness in communities across Latvia.
