A man injured in a fire on Wednesday
A man has been injured in a fire incident in Riga, Latvia, while attempting to extinguish the fire by himself.
On Tuesday morning, a fire in a two-story residential building in Riga resulted in one individual being injured. The incident was reported to the State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia (VUGD) at 8:30 AM. The blaze, originating from a boiler, affected the ceiling over an area of four square meters. Prior to the arrival of rescue services, three people evacuated the building, and another escaped as firefighters arrived. Unfortunately, one person sustained injuries while trying to put out the fire independently.
Additionally, on the same day, another fire incident was reported at Daugavgrīvas highway in Riga, where a pile of wood chips covering 600 square meters and logs over 400 square meters caught fire. This outdoor fire, classified as a high-risk situation, was extinguished shortly after 4 PM. The quick response and efficient action from the fire services were essential in controlling the situation before it could spread further.
Over the past 24 hours, VUGD received a total of 42 emergency calls, which included 12 calls for fire extinguishing efforts, 18 for rescue operations, and 12 were identified as false alarms. This highlights the continuous demand placed on fire services in Latvia, emphasizing the importance of community awareness and precautions against fire hazards.
