TCN restores 330kV Shiroro–Mando line to service

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has restored the 330kV Shiroro–Mando Transmission Line 2 following necessary repairs, enhancing the efficiency of electricity transmission in the region.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored the 330kV Shiroro–Mando Transmission Line 2 to operational status after carrying out essential repair works. This announcement was made by Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, who confirmed that the line was re-energised at 8:32 PM on February 19, 2026. The repair process involved extensive technical interventions performed by TCN engineers, emphasizing the importance of maintaining safety and quality standards throughout the operation.

With both transmission lines now operational, the Shiroro-Mando corridor is fully functional. This restoration is significant as it considerably enhances the capacity of Kaduna Electric to transmit bulk electricity to its designated franchise area. The improvement in network flexibility facilitated by this successful restoration strengthens the overall reliability of the national electricity grid, which is crucial for meeting the increasing energy demands of the region.

The return of both circuits is viewed as a critical milestone for the Transmission Company of Nigeria and the national grid's infrastructure. It underscores TCN's commitment to ensuring efficiency and reliability in electricity transmission, which is vital for further economic development and sustainability within Nigeria's energy sector.
