Metro: Modifications from Monday on Line 2 – Stations Syntagma, Acropolis, Syngrou Fix will close two and a half hours earlier
Starting Monday, stations on Line 2 of the Athens Metro will close earlier due to ongoing maintenance and enhancements.
Starting from Monday, modifications will be implemented on Line 2 of the Athens Metro as part of the fourth phase of a project involving track replacement and the installation of a 5G network. The affected stations, including Syntagma, Acropolis, and Syngrou Fix, will close two and a half hours earlier than the regular schedule, specifically at 21:40 from Sunday to Thursday, leading to significant changes in evening travel plans for commuters. However, services on February 22 will run normally throughout the day across all stations, indicating a temporary pause in these changes for that particular day.
As part of the planned modifications, temporary traffic regulations will also be applied during the nighttime hours of this project. The Syntagma station will remain operational for Line 3, enabling connections to the Municipal Theatre, Dukissis Plakentias, and the Airport, thereby allowing travelers flexibility despite the closures on Line 2. Passengers intending to use the subway should be aware of these alterations to avoid inconveniences and ensure timely arrivals at their destinations.
The implementation of early closures signifies the ongoing efforts by STASY, the Athens Metro authority, to modernize transport infrastructure and improve connectivity through advanced technology offerings. While this might cause temporary disruptions in service, the ultimate goal is to enhance the overall travel experience for Metro users in Athens, maintaining a seamless flow in public transportation amid ongoing upgrades and improvements.
