Metro: Traffic regulations on Line 2 - Which stations are closing, at what times
Temporary traffic regulations will be implemented on Athens Metro Line 2 due to night works.
From Sunday, March 15, temporary traffic regulations will be effective on Line 2 of the Metro in Athens, specifically affecting the section between Omonia and Acropolis. This decision is a response to ongoing replacement works for the railway tracks and the installation of a 5G network within the metro. Passengers should be aware that certain stations will have altered operating hours during this period.
The stations affected include 'Omonia', 'University', 'Syntagma', and 'Acropolis', which will close at 21:40 from Sunday to Thursday, significantly earlier than their normal closing time. However, 'Syntagma' station will remain operational for Line 3, and 'Omonia' station will serve Line 1. During the construction hours, train services will run between 'Anthoupoli' and 'Metaxourgeio', as well as from 'Elliniko' to 'Syggrou Fix'.
This adjustment aims to facilitate necessary infrastructure improvements while minimizing disruption to commuters. Travelers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and stay informed about the changes to ensure they reach their destinations without inconvenience. The ongoing upgrades are part of broader efforts to enhance public transport in Athens.
