The Bioceanic Route International Bridge, linking Porto Murtinho in Brazil to Carmelo Peralta in Paraguay, is in the final construction phase, expected to be completed by May 2026. This project is deemed strategically important as it will enhance trade and establish a new export route in South America. The bridge will stretch 1,294 meters in length and 21 meters in width, facilitating significant economic interactions between Brazil and Paraguay.

Currently, approximately 280 workers from both Brazil and Paraguay are involved in the construction process. The last 101 meters of the bridge, known as the 'kiss' of the bridge segments, signifies the point where both sides of the structure will meet over the Paraguay River, completing the vital connection. Once the main structure is finished, additional tasks such as the installation of steel cables within the concrete deck, adjustment of the supporting cables, and addition of dampers will follow to ensure stability and durability.

This infrastructure project is pivotal for regional trade and will streamline transport routes not just within South America but also toward markets in China, representing a significant step in enhancing connectivity across the continent. The successful completion of this bridge may lead to an increase in cross-border commerce and subsequently contribute to the economic growth of both nations involved.
