Road solution on Juan Tanca Marengo: project is 21% complete and plans to open a first bridge in 2026
Ecuador's road solution project on Juan Tanca Marengo is currently 21% complete, aiming to open a bridge by 2026 with a total investment of $13.4 million.
The road solution project on Avenida Juan Tanca Marengo and Rodrigo ChΓ‘vez in Ecuador has reached a construction milestone, completing the foundation for one of the proposed bridges. The ongoing phase focuses on building the superstructure, specifically the pillars that will support the bridge; this is a key step before the installation of girders and the deck. The section with the most progress directs toward the Daule road, where thirty piles have been successfully installed, varying in depth between 9 and 12 meters.
Currently, the project has achieved a completion rate of 21%, which is part of a broader plan scheduled for 20 months. The total investment for the initiative is estimated at $13.4 million. This development is significant for enhancing transportation infrastructure in the area, which aims to ease vehicular movement and alleviate congestion in the growing urban center.
Construction on the second segment of the elevated road began in January 2026, which is oriented in the opposite direction. Current activities include soil drilling and preliminary surveys before the foundations for the different segments can be laid. The completion of further phases is expected by May, contributing to the project's overall goal of improving traffic flow in the northern part of the city and bolstering connectivity with surrounding regions.
