On Thursday, Latvia experienced a series of traffic accidents resulting in nine injuries, as reported by the State Police through the LETA news agency. During the previous 24 hours, police recorded a total of 176 traffic incidents, with eight of these resulting in injuries, which included two pedestrians among the victims. The rising number of road incidents highlights ongoing safety concerns along Latvian roadways.

In addition to the accidents, the police issued a significant number of traffic violation reports, totaling 453 administrative infringements. Among these, three drivers were penalized for aggressive driving behavior, pointing to an alarming trend of traffic misconduct. Furthermore, a total of 135 protocols were drawn up for speeding violations, reinforcing the need for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations to mitigate risk and enhance public safety.

The situation escalated further with eight individuals being caught driving under the influence on the same day. This not only underscores the persistent issue of impaired driving in Latvia but also places additional pressure on law enforcement agencies to combat such dangerous practices. As authorities continue to address these challenges, the focus remains on enhancing road safety and reducing the frequency of serious accidents.
