Ten injured in traffic accidents on Sunday
On Sunday, ten people were injured in traffic accidents across Latvia, according to the State Police.
On Sunday, Latvia experienced a total of 95 registered traffic accidents, resulting in injuries for ten individuals, including one pedestrian. This news comes from an official announcement by the State Police, which shared that they were informed by the LETA agency. Out of these incidents, eight specifically involved injuries to people.
Additionally, the State Police conducted operations against drunk driving, apprehending ten drivers under the influence. The arrests were dispersed across regions, with five in the Rīga area, one in Kurzeme, and two in Latgale, where criminal proceedings have been initiated against some of these drivers for operating vehicles while heavily intoxicated.
In terms of speeding violations, law enforcement issued 181 administrative violation protocols for exceeding the legal speed limit, with the majority of infractions occurring in the Vidzeme region, where 65 speeders were caught. These figures underscore the ongoing issues with road safety and compliance with traffic laws in Latvia, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and enforcement to prevent accidents and injuries on the roads.
