UnB opens 100 spots in a course on 'aspects of aging' for students aged 45 and older

The University of Brasília (UnB) has opened 100 free spots for a course on gerontology aimed at individuals aged 45 and above.

The University of Brasília (UnB) has launched a free extension course titled 'Political Social Educator in Gerontology', intended for individuals aged 45 and older from the Federal District and surrounding areas. With 100 spots available, applications are open until February 27, and successful candidates will be announced on March 2. Enrollees can complete their registration from March 3 to 15, with no application fees involved.

The course is set to be conducted in person, running from Monday to Friday from 2 PM to 6 PM in Taguatinga, with classes beginning on March 16. It spans a duration of two years and aims to enhance social participation while fostering community action within the gerontology field. Gerontology, the science examining the aging process from biological, psychological, and social perspectives, highlights the importance of social engagement and educational opportunities for aging populations.

This initiative reflects a growing recognition of the need for targeted education and resources for older adults, promoting a better understanding of their unique challenges and contributions to society. By equipping older individuals with knowledge and skills, the course seeks to support active aging and empower participants to engage more fully in their communities, ensuring that their voices and experiences are valued.
