Greater Noida: Six Arrested in Betting App Fraud Gang Bust Including Nepali Citizen
The Noida Special Task Force has dismantled a multi-state gang involved in online betting fraud, arresting six members including citizens from Nepal and India.
In Greater Noida, the Noida Special Task Force (STF) has successfully uncovered an inter-state gang operating fraudulent activities through an online betting application. The arrest of six gang members is noteworthy because it includes both Indian and Nepali citizens, who were reportedly running an illegal online betting network from their residences in the Indirapuram and Shahberi areas of Ghaziabad. These individuals are accused of employing deceptive practices to lure unsuspecting users into their betting schemes.
An important development in the case involved the recovery of mobile phones used for sending threatening emails to various schools in Gautam Buddh Nagar. The arrest is linked to a series of intimidating emails received by schools on January 23, hinting at potentially serious implications for school safety. The STF was alerted to investigate the matter following the filing of a complaint under the BNS and IT Act at the cyber crime police station in Gautam Buddh Nagar, which underscored the severity of the threats made against educational institutions.
This operation reflects the STF's proactive approach towards cyber crimes and the increasing need for vigilance against online fraud and intimidation tactics. The incident not only highlights the growing problem of online betting scams, which exploit vulnerable individuals, but also raises concerns about the broader implications of such criminal activities on community safety and trust in digital platforms.
