In the charity event organized by Latvijas Sabiedriskā Medija, €383,471 has been raised so far to provide warmth for Ukraine
Latvijas Sabiedriskā Medija has raised €383,471 for Ukrainian support as part of its annual charity campaign running from February 9 to 24.
Latvijas Sabiedriskā Medija (LSM) has reported that it has successfully raised €383,471 during its annual charity campaign aimed at supporting Ukraine, where the need for warmth and energy has increased significantly due to ongoing Russian military actions. This year marks the fifth instance of this support initiative, which coincides with the anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia. The fundraising campaign will run from February 9 to February 24, and contributions are being collected through a phone donation line and online fundraising platform.
The funds raised will be directed toward the provision of generators, electricity, and heating supplies to communities in Ukraine that have been severely impacted by the destruction of energy infrastructure caused by the war. This initiative is a collaborative effort with the charity organization 'Ziedot.lv', which has been actively involved in providing humanitarian support since the onset of the conflict. The necessity of this support is particularly heightened in times of extreme cold, as many Ukrainian families struggle to maintain warmth amid the escalating humanitarian crisis.
By continuing to provide this assistance, LSM aims to remind people of the ongoing challenges faced by Ukrainians and encourage further contributions. The campaign’s strategic timing is significant as it not only marks a crucial period in the war but also reinforces the solidarity expressed by people in Latvia and beyond towards those affected by the conflict in Ukraine.
