Latvian Public Media's campaign raises 214,656 euros to provide warmth for Ukraine
Latvian Public Media's fundraising initiative has successfully gathered 214,656 euros to support Ukraine's energy needs amid ongoing conflict-related devastation.
Latvian Public Media (LSM) is conducting a fundraising campaign from February 9 to 24, 2024, in collaboration with the charity organization Ziedot.lv, aiming to raise funds for energy support in Ukraine. This initiative coincides with the fourth anniversary of Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine. The donations collected during this period will be entirely allocated to purchasing generators, electricity, and heating for communities in Ukraine that are critically in need due to the destruction of energy infrastructure caused by the war.
Since the beginning of the war, LSM and Ziedot.lv have been actively involved in providing assistance to Ukraine. The current campaign allows individuals to donate via telephone or online, with the latter option being accessible through the website ziedot.lv/Ukrainai. The campaign seeks to generate crucial support for Ukrainian communities facing harsh winters exacerbated by energy shortages and infrastructure damage, demonstrating solidarity with those affected by the conflict.
The call to action from LSM encourages the Latvian public to once again respond generously to the needs of Ukraine, highlighting the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region. As the war continues to impact everyday life in Ukraine, initiatives like these play an essential role in delivering immediate aid and support to help sustain communities through difficult times, underlining the importance of international cooperation and support during crises.
