Meteorologists announce where it snowed the most
Meteorologists in Lithuania reported significant snowfall in various regions, with temperatures fluctuating from freezing to above freezing across the country.
On Thursday, Lithuania experienced widespread precipitation mainly in the form of snow and sleet, with rain falling in some southern areas. The weather conditions included fog, icy patches, and brisk temperatures ranging from -3 to +2 degrees Celsius, and in some northern regions, temperatures dropped further to -4 to -6 degrees Celsius. The night also saw continued precipitation with notable accumulation of snow and sleet, with the lowest temperatures dropping to between -0 and -7 degrees Celsius in certain areas.
Over the past 24 hours, the most significant precipitation was recorded in Nida with 11.5 mm, followed by Ventė at 9.2 mm, Kelmė at 9.1 mm, and both Klaipėda and Tauragė at 9 mm. Snow depth increased by 8 to 11 cm in certain locations. Meteorologists expect that the precipitation will continue into Friday, with ongoing snowfall, sleet, and rain in southern regions. Northern areas are likely to experience heavy snow and possible blizzard conditions, while icy patches and wet snow blankets remain a concern.
