Meteorologists have announced where the most precipitation has fallen
Meteorologists in Lithuania report significant snowfall and freezing rain across various regions, leading to hazardous conditions and increased snow accumulation.
Lithuanian meteorologists have reported that significant precipitation, including snow and a wintry mix, has fallen across several regions in the past 24 hours. Areas such as Pagėgiai, Jurbarkas, Nida, Zarasai, Panevėžys, and Ukmergė experienced the highest levels of rainfall, measuring between 7 to 8 mm. The snowfall has resulted in snow accumulations of up to 6 to 8 cm in some places, leading to potentially hazardous travel conditions.
In addition to the snow, weather patterns for Thursday indicate that light snow and sleet will continue across much of the country, with rain expected in southern regions. This mixed precipitation is accompanied by a risk of freezing rain, black ice, and fog, which poses additional dangers for those traveling. Wind from the east is forecasted to reach speeds of 6 to 11 m/s, further complicating conditions.
As temperatures fluctuate between -3 to -8 degrees Celsius in northern areas and 0 to -2 degrees Celsius in southern regions, residents are advised to prepare for ongoing winter weather effects. These conditions underscore the challenges of winter travel and the importance of monitoring weather advisories to ensure safety on roads and public areas.
