The warmth has returned, but not for long: the meteorologist reports where snow will fall in the country

A meteorologist forecasts rain and, in some parts of Lithuania, wet snow as a weather front approaches following a brief warm spell.

Following a dry and sunny Wednesday in Lithuania, the weather is set to turn cloudy with rain expected on Thursday. Despite calm and dry conditions overnight, temperatures are forecast to hover between -4 and 1 degrees Celsius. As the day progresses, atmospheric pressure will shift and a weather front will move in from the northwest, leading to increased cloud cover and the likelihood of light rain in the northwestern regions by the afternoon.

Thursday's temperatures will vary across the country, expected to reach 8-13 degrees Celsius in many areas, while the coastal regions will remain cooler at around 5-7 degrees. The advancing atmospheric front will bring precipitation throughout the nation, with forecasts suggesting that some places may experience wet snow on Friday. Most of the precipitation during the day on Friday is expected in the southeastern portion of the country, but there may also be wet snowflakes in Highland Lithuania overnight.

As the new weather system progresses, Lithuanians are advised to prepare for changing conditions. While the return of warmer temperatures has been a welcome change from the preceding cold spell, the impending rain and possible snowfall remind residents that winter is not yet over. Emergency services have also been activated in flood-prone areas, ensuring that residents remain calm and prepared for potentially hazardous weather ahead.
