Sabesp strengthens water supply and sewage services in Baixada Santista for Carnival

Sabesp is enhancing water supply and sewage management services in Baixada Santista to accommodate the influx of tourists during Carnival 2026.

The Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo (Sabesp) announced that it will implement special measures to ensure adequate water supply and sewage system functionality in the nine cities of Baixada Santista during the 2026 Carnival. This initiative runs until February 22 and includes the deployment of 50 water trucks, 140 strategic pumps, and 38 trucks specifically for sewage network services. Furthermore, 90 generators have been made available to prevent service interruptions in the event of power outages.

To respond to increased demand, mobile water treatment stations will be activated as needed, and teams will be on standby 24/7 for both preventive and corrective measures. The city of Santos, in particular, anticipates a significant influx of over 400,000 visitors from February 14 to 18, which underscores the importance of Sabesp's preparations to maintain public health and accessibility during this bustling holiday.

By ensuring a reliable water supply and effective sewage management, Sabesp not only addresses immediate logistical needs for Carnival but also reinforces the region's infrastructure resilience amid the expected surge in visitors. This proactive approach is crucial for both local residents and tourists, aiming to provide a safe and enjoyable Carnival experience in Baixada Santista.
