Summer Operation extended until March 1st in Baixada Santista

The Summer Operation in the Baixada Santista, aimed at ensuring tourist safety, has been extended until March 1st due to increased tourist arrivals post-Carnival.

The Summer Operation 2025/2026, designed to enhance public safety in the Baixada Santista region of Brazil, has been extended until March 1st to accommodate the high influx of tourists following the Carnival festivities. Initially set to conclude on February 20th, the operation began on December 15th and will now total 76 days of action. The operation involves coordinated efforts from local law enforcement and aims to ensure the safety and security of both residents and tourists during this busy travel period.

Throughout the operation, local authorities, including the Municipal Guard and Military Police, are deploying substantial resources, including 250 municipal guards and 3,000 surveillance cameras throughout the region. While the operation will maintain a lower police presence during the extension—from 4,097 to 3,212 military police—officials have assured that adequate coverage remains a priority to manage summer activity effectively. This adjustment reflects a balancing act between maintaining security and optimizing resource allocation based on tourist patterns.

In addition to the cities of Baixada Santista, like Santos, Guarujá, and Mongaguá, the operation also extends its vigilance to surrounding municipalities such as Iguape, Ilha Comprida, and Cananéia in the Vale do Ribeira. The public safety initiative underscores the state's commitment to managing tourist safety during peak seasons, ensuring both residents and visitors can enjoy a safe environment amid the summer hustle and bustle.
