Four cities in Baixada Santista are among the 100 best in the 2026 Sanitation Ranking

Four municipalities from the Baixada Santista region ranked among the top 100 in Brazil's 2026 Sanitation Ranking, with Santos achieving the highest position at 4th overall.

In the 18th edition of the Sanitation Ranking for 2026, released by Instituto Trata Brasil in partnership with GO Associados, four cities from the Baixada Santista region stood out among the 100 largest municipalities in Brazil. Santos achieved an impressive 4th place nationally, while Praia Grande, SΓ£o Vicente, and GuarujΓ‘ were ranked 22nd, 25th, and 36th, respectively. This ranking is based on recent indicators from the National System of Basic Sanitation Information (Sinisa) for the year 2024.

Franca in SΓ£o Paulo topped the ranking with an outstanding score, surpassing the targets set by the Legal Framework of Sanitation, with water service coverage at 99.46% and sewage collection and treatment at 98.91%. Santos, securing the 4th position, reported a water coverage of 99.33%, sewage collection at 98.46%, and a treatment rate of 81.91%, establishing itself as a regional reference in sanitation.

The recognition of these municipalities highlights the advancements in public health and infrastructure in Brazil, specifically within the Baixada Santista region.
