NIPCO Gas Limited has announced its plans to expand the availability of compressed natural gas (CNG) in Nigeria by constructing 20 new CNG stations. This initiative is part of the company's effort to support the Federal Government in its clean energy objectives, which include a reform agenda focusing on renewable energy and transitioning away from subsidies. Nagendra Verma, the Managing Director of NIPCO, emphasized the importance of this project during a media engagement in Lagos, highlighting the company's commitment to enhancing Nigeria's energy landscape.

The construction of these CNG stations will not only provide an alternative fuel source but also improve access to gas-powered mobility infrastructure across critical routes and urban centers in Nigeria. Verma noted that this rollout is aligned with the government's vision to deepen gas utilization within the country, particularly as Nigeria seeks to move away from a heavy reliance on fossil fuels and subsidies. Additionally, the strategic development of compression hubs is intended to support effective distribution of CNG, thus facilitating a more efficient energy model.
