Traffic Girls Block prepares for 26th parade at the carnival in Fernando de Noronha
The Traffic Girls Block announces its 26th parade at the carnival of Fernando de Noronha, scheduled for February 17.
The Traffic Girls Block, considered the most traditional group in the carnival of Fernando de Noronha, is set to host its 26th parade on Fat Tuesday, February 17. This unique celebration, founded by taxi drivers on the island, is anticipated to attract both locals and tourists as the group makes its way through the streets in festive garb. The event will commence with a gathering at 6 PM in front of the Association of Noronhense Taxi Drivers (Nortax), located in Vila dos Remédios.
As per the tradition, male participants will don women’s clothing to take part in the parade, adding a humorous twist to the event. Local taxi driver and singer Nado Carvalho will provide entertainment during the festivities. The parade is scheduled to kick off at 8 PM, including a route from Vila dos Remédios to the School Arquipélago, where a competition will determine the best costume amongst participants.
Following the competition, the block will continue through the neighborhoods of Floresta Nova and Vila do Trinta before returning to Vila dos Remédios to conclude the evening's activities. This celebration not only showcases local culture but also highlights the community spirit and creativity of the residents of Fernando de Noronha, promising a vibrant and joyous atmosphere at this year's carnival festivities.
