Orkla Estonia sells Põltsamaa business to Svensky Kaubandusele
Orkla Eesti has finalized the sale of its Põltsamaa factory and brand to Estonian wholesale food company Svensky Kaubanduse AS, ensuring continued production and partnership.
Orkla Eesti has successfully completed its process of finding a new owner for the Põltsamaa factory and brand, announcing that the buyer is Svensky Kaubanduse AS, a company focused on wholesale and food production based in Estonia. This transaction marks a significant development as it guarantees the continuation of local production and the value of the Põltsamaa brand which holds considerable affection within the country.
As part of the sale agreement, the production operations at the Põltsamaa factory will transition to Svensky Kaubanduse AS by the end of April, with all existing employee contracts being upheld. Orkla's leadership, particularly CEO Kaido Kaare, expressed a strong desire to find a buyer who would appreciate and continue the legacy of the Põltsamaa brand. They expressed optimism that with the new owner, both the brand and its production would flourish even further.
The sale also includes an ongoing partnership where Orkla will continue to source various products, such as vegetable preserves from Põltsamaa. This collaborative arrangement is viewed positively, as it ensures that the region will maintain its culinary heritage while adapting to a fresh ownership structure.
