Santa Maria spices will be produced only in Estonia from now on
The production of 'Santa Maria' spices by Finnish food and beverage manufacturer 'Paulig' will relocate entirely from Sweden to a factory in Sauja, Estonia, by the summer of 2027, creating nearly a hundred new jobs.
The Finnish food and beverage manufacturer 'Paulig' announced that production of its 'Santa Maria' spices will fully transition from Sweden to Sauja, Estonia by the summer of 2027. This strategic move will result in the creation of nearly one hundred new jobs in the region. The planned transition will take place gradually, utilizing the existing facilities that have been used for spice production for over thirty years.
By consolidating its production in one location, 'Paulig' aims to optimize operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance resource utilization. The gradual shift is expected to generate approximately 80 to 90 new jobs at the Sauja factory, alongside plans to expand production capabilities with additional production lines. According to Mariela Toigere, a board member of 'Paulig', the company will increase production in Sauja steadily to ensure continuity of supply throughout the transition.
Earlier this year, 'Paulig' had already indicated potential spice production consolidation in Estonia, which is progressing towards a completion date by the summer of 2027. This consolidation not only reflects strategic decisions by the company but also underscores the growing significance of the Estonian location for 'Paulig' and its operational future, suggesting a deeper investment in the region's food production capabilities.
