Investing 566,000 euros in road reconstruction in Ventspils municipality
Ventspils municipality will be reconstructing roads to Miķeļtorni and Ovīši, funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund.
In a significant infrastructure initiative, the Ventspils municipality plans to invest 566,000 euros in road reconstruction to improve access to the villages of Miķeļtorni and Ovīši in Tārgales pagast. The funding for this project has been secured from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, following the approval of two project applications by the local agricultural support authority. This redevelopment is crucial as it addresses several existing issues such as inconsistent road widths, overgrown roadside vegetation, and inadequate drainage for surface rainwater, which can exacerbate conditions during dry weather when gravel surfaces tend to become dusty.
The project aims to revamp approximately 1,670 meters of road length in Miķeļtorņa and 2,677 meters in Ovīši. Key objectives include removing overgrowth along the roadways, improving surface rainwater drainage, replacing certain culverts, and implementing measures to protect existing engineering communications. Moreover, the plan includes strengthening the roadbed in these areas through a double surface treatment process, which is essential for ensuring the roads' longevity and usability during varied weather conditions.
This initiative not only aims to enhance the road infrastructure but also emphasizes the commitment of the Ventspils municipality to improving local access and safety for residents and visitors. Efficient road networks are vital for connecting rural communities and facilitating economic activities, thereby contributing to the area's overall development.
