The Jurmala municipality will borrow 2.6 million euros for road reconstruction
The Jurmala municipality of Latvia has decided to borrow over 2.6 million euros for the reconstruction of major streets as part of a project aimed at enhancing road safety and traffic conditions.
The Jurmala municipality has approved a plan to borrow €2,656,942 aimed at the reconstruction of the pavement of several major streets in the city. The decision was made by local officials to ensure that by 2026, significant upgrades will be made to the asphalt surfaces of 11 specific road sections, including Turaidas, Tukuma, and Rīgas streets, among others. This project reflects the municipality's commitment to improving local infrastructure and ensuring the safety of its residents and visitors.
The initiative not only focuses on maintaining the quality of the existing roads but also emphasizes enhancing safety measures in the city due to the high traffic intensity on these streets, which are crucial for the public transport system. By improving the road surfaces, the municipality anticipates better driving conditions, extended lifespan of the streets, reduced need for frequent repairs, and enhanced access to important urban facilities and services. This aligns with broader urban development goals and the municipality's strategy for environmental improvements.
Overall, the total budget required for the project's execution is estimated at €3,616,548, with €468,872 allocated from state budget grants specifically for municipal roads. This financial support underlines the collaborative effort between the city council and the national government to enhance the transport infrastructure in Jurmala, ultimately aiming for a cleaner and more organized urban environment.
