Major reconstruction of busy road to begin soon: project value – 18 million euros

A narrow and worn-out road in Lithuania will undergo significant modernization work valued at €18 million, enhancing regional transportation connectivity by the end of 2027.

A narrow road, measuring just 3.5 meters in some areas, is set to undergo major reconstruction, expected to be completed by the end of 2027. The road is classified among the so-called 'narrow roads' which have a driving surface less than 5 meters wide and often connect to the trans-European transport network (TEN-T). Due to their significance in regional connectivity, upgrading these roads is a priority in Lithuania.

This modernization project aims to not only improve the condition of the road but also enhance overall safety and accessibility across the country's transportation network. As these segments of road are renovated, they will contribute to the comprehensive renewal of state-owned road networks, improving access for residents and businesses alike, and resulting in safer travel conditions within the region.

Transportation Minister Juras Taminskas emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that with these upgrades, the outdated 'narrow roads' will soon be a thing of the past, leading to a more modern and reliable road network throughout Lithuania. The overarching goal is to ensure safer daily commutes for people, whether that involves trips to work or school, as well as access to healthcare services for the community.
