Winter ebbs: snow will gradually be replaced by rain, temperatures will rise

Lithuania is set to experience a shift from snowy weather to rain, with a rise in temperatures expected over the coming days.

Lithuania's weather forecast indicates that the winter season is transitioning, as snow will begin to give way to rain in the coming days. Initially, light precipitation is expected primarily in southern regions, where there will be a risk of ice forming, making roads slippery. The weather will remain relatively calm with light southern and southeastern winds, and temperatures hovering between -7 and -12°C.

As a cyclone approaches from the west, its effects will be felt, bringing with it snow on Wednesday night in many areas, particularly during the day. The temperature at night will remain frigid, possibly dropping to as low as -16°C in some areas, while daytime temperatures will be slightly warmer, ranging from -1 to -5°C in some southern regions, where it may even rise above freezing.

On Thursday night, snow will continue to fall across much of the country. However, as the cyclone moves closer, rain will replace snow during the day. This change in precipitation could create further ice conditions and potential fog. Winds are expected to pick up slightly, and temperatures will generally remain low, but with the anticipated mid-day rise, this signals a notable shift towards a milder winter weather pattern in Lithuania.
