Changes in Lithuania Overnight: Rain and Ice Return
Weather changes in Lithuania are expected with the return of precipitation and icy conditions following a night of fluctuating temperatures.
In Lithuania, Tuesday is forecasted to bring little precipitation, with ice forming overnight and into the morning, alongside some fog. Wind conditions will vary, blowing at speeds of 3β8 m/s, while temperatures are expected to drop to between -1 and -6 degrees Celsius overnight, only rising slightly during the day to a range between 1 and 6 degrees Celsius. On Wednesday, significant rainfall is not expected, but icy conditions will persist during the night and morning hours. Winds will shift to the west, increasing to 6β11 m/s, and the temperature will range from -3 degrees Celsius at night to around 2 degrees during the day. This shifting weather pattern is indicative of the season's transition into spring, which is now becoming evident. As of March 1st, many rivers across the country are showing minor fluctuations in water levels, primarily increasing by up to 13 cm per day. However, significant drops of about 50 cm have been observed in certain areas, such as the Merkys river near PuvoΔiai. The emerging warmer temperatures will facilitate the melting of ice on the rivers and increase their levels, leading to a potential rise in water levels, particularly as more snow begins to melt in the coming days.
