Cycling club boosts road safety with Lagos sweepers initiative

The Cycology Cycling Club in Lagos has launched an initiative to support road sweepers by distributing gift boxes, enhancing road cleanliness and safety.

The Cycology Cycling Club has taken a commendable step towards promoting road safety in Lagos by extending its ‘Love on the Sidewalk’ initiative to support local road sweepers. On Saturday, the club distributed 300 gift boxes containing essential food items to road sweepers in various areas including Bourdillon, Dolphin, Osborne, TBS, and Oworo. This initiative serves to recognize and appreciate the hard work of those who are crucial in maintaining clean streets, which directly impacts the safety of all road users, particularly cyclists.

Led by the club’s CSR secretary, Dolu Olugbenjo, this outreach is part of the club's annual advocacy efforts aimed at enhancing community engagement and social responsibility. The initiative not only provides immediate support to the sweepers but also raises awareness about the importance of their work in keeping the streets safe and clean. Cycling Club captain Kunle Osunkunle highlighted the connection between road cleanliness and safety, stressing that unclean streets could pose risks to cyclists and other road users.

Overall, the efforts by the Cycology Cycling Club illustrate a growing awareness within local organizations of their role in improving urban safety and community welfare. By supporting the often-overlooked work of road sweepers, the club is making a positive impact in Lagos and setting an example for other communities in prioritizing road safety and cleanliness through cooperative efforts.
