Rotary donates water facility, computers to Lagos institutions
The Rotary Club of Falomo has provided water infrastructure and computers to schools and correctional facilities in Lagos to improve sanitation and education.
The Rotary Club of Falomo has implemented a significant community intervention in Lagos by inaugurating a water project at Okesuna High School and donating computing equipment to the Ikoyi Correctional Centre. This initiative is part of the clubβs ongoing commitment to improving water, sanitation, and hygiene education, as well as promoting peacebuilding initiatives. The donations were formally made on a Friday, highlighting the importance of community involvement in addressing basic needs.
Ibrahim Sule, the President of the Rotary Club of Falomo, remarked on the critical infrastructure deficiencies in the area, particularly noting that Okesuna High School previously lacked reliable access to clean water. The project not only provides a vital resource for the school but also aligns with Rotaryβs mission to enhance access to clean water and promote better hygiene practices among students. The investment will ensure sustainability as the club has committed to long-term maintenance of the water facility and has established a direct channel with the school authorities for any necessary technical support.
Additionally, the Rotary Club has plans to enhance the facilities further by installing hand-washing basins and other sanitation equipment at the school. This move underscores the clubβs dedication to fostering a healthier environment and improving overall educational outcomes for students, showing how community organizations can play a pivotal role in local development and welfare initiatives in Nigeria.
