Lagos unveils waste-to-value drive for Ojokoro residents

The Lagos State government is launching an Eco-Circulate waste-to-value initiative in Ojokoro to promote grassroots engagement in the circular economy and enhance environmental sustainability.

The Lagos State government has announced a new initiative aimed at promoting the circular economy among residents of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area. The Eco-Circulate waste-to-value initiative encourages community involvement in sustainable practices and seeks to enhance environmental sustainability through education and engagement. This program is part of broader efforts by the state to implement waste management strategies that are both circular and sustainable.

According to a statement from the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Climate Change and Circular Economy, the Eco-Circulate Project Train is scheduled to arrive in Ojokoro on February 28, 2026, for a community event. The venue for this outreach will be on Akinsola Street, off Oguntonna Street, near the MFM Church in Ajala, Ojokoro. The event will begin at 10:00 am and aims to mobilize residents to actively participate in circular economy practices.

Titilayo Oshodi, the Special Adviser to the Governor, emphasized that the initiative is a reflection of the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and economic empowerment through innovative waste management solutions. By fostering local engagement in such initiatives, the state aims to cultivate a more sustainable environment and encourage residents to be more proactive in managing their waste responsibly. This approach could set a precedent for other regions in Nigeria to adopt similar sustainability programs.
