Eiduka finishes the season in 26th place in the 20-kilometer freestyle race at the World Cup
Latvian skier Sindija Eiduka concluded her World Cup season with a 26th place finish in the 20-kilometer freestyle event.
In the final World Cup competitions of the season, Swedish skier Jonna Sundling celebrated victory, finishing in 48 minutes and 17.1 seconds. She was followed closely by compatriot Linn Svahn, who crossed the finish line just 3.5 seconds later, while Norwegian Heidi Weng finished in third place, a further seven seconds behind. American skier Jessie Diggins, who had already secured her fourth Crystal Globe, finished in 12th place in her last competitive race.
The tightly contested race saw the first 22 athletes finish within a span of 51 seconds, with Eiduka finishing not far behind in a group that crossed the line about a minute later. The Latvian skier missed the top 25 by just under three seconds and lost to the winner by a margin of one minute and 49.1 seconds. Out of 63 competitors, 60 completed the race, highlighting the competitive nature of the event.
Although Eiduka did not participate in the full season, her 26th place finish in the overall standings showcased her potential and determination. Fellow Latvian skier Kitija Auziņa ended the season in 167th place. In the men's competition, Norwegian Johannes Hösflot Klæbo capped off his medal-winning season with another victory, finishing in 41 minutes and 57 seconds, beating compatriot Harald Østberg Amundsen by just eight-tenths of a second.
