Latvian cross-country skier Eiduka finished in the top 20 during the second World Cup event in Sweden, claiming the 18th position.
Latvian cross-country skier Eiduka showcased her skills by finishing 18th in the second World Cup distance event held in Sweden. At the halfway mark of the race, she was positioned within the top 30, but managed to climb three places in the final stretch, ultimately crossing the finish line just beats out by Canadian Liliane Gagnon. Eiduka completed the race in just over 56 minutes, a notable achievement in a competitive field of 47 skiers.
The race saw Norwegian Heidi Veng take home the victory, narrowly edging out American Jessie Diggins and Swedish skier Frida Karlsson by mere tenths of seconds. Veng's winning time was 54 minutes and 42.8 seconds, providing a thrilling example of the close race at the top. Eiduka's finish was only a little over two minutes behind the winner, showcasing her potential to compete among the world's best.
In addition to Eiduka's accomplishment, the men's race featured another impressive performance from Norwegian Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, who continues to dominate in the post-Olympic season. He finished first with a time of 48 minutes and 41.8 seconds, followed by his compatriots Harald Østberg Amundsen and Martin Nyenget. This World Cup event highlights the rising competition in cross-country skiing, particularly as athletes prepare for the upcoming seasons.
