Skier Eiduka wins historic 15th place in the 10 km freestyle skiing race
Latvian skier Eiduka finished an impressive 15th in the 10 km freestyle skiing event, marking a historic achievement for Latvia.
Eiduka was part of a four-member Latvian women's skiing team that competed in a recent international event, showcasing a strong performance under pressure. The race was won by Sweden's Frida Karlsson, who finished with a time of 22 minutes and 49.2 seconds, well ahead of her compatriot Ebba Andersson. Eiduka, starting with bib number 18, commenced her run nine minutes after the competition began and competed valiantly despite suffering a minor shoulder injury in a training incident just a day prior to the race.
Despite her injury, Eiduka managed to complete the 10 km race in 24 minutes and 33.3 seconds, achieving a personal best and finishing as the top Latvian skier in the event. After crossing the finish line, she expressed satisfaction with her performance while acknowledging fatigue during the second half of the race. Eiduka's strategy typically involves starting quickly and maintaining speed, a tactic she continued to employ successfully throughout the race.
The second-best Latvian skier, Kitija Auziņa, finished in 61st place, trailing the winner by nearly four minutes. The competition highlighted the developing talent within the Latvian women’s skiing team, with all four members demonstrating resilience and determination.
