The stables and carriage house of the Pažaislis Monastery will be renovated for almost 1.6 million euros
Funding has been secured to renovate the stable and carriage house of the Pažaislis Monastery, with plans for cultural and educational events in the updated facilities.
This week, it was announced that almost 1.6 million euros will be allocated for the renovation of the stables and carriage house of the Pažaislis Monastery. Of this total, 528,600 euros comes from a loan provided by the national development bank ILTE, specifically for the restoration of cultural heritage sites that require significant investments. The project aims to restore buildings that are currently in an emergency state and to give them new purposes that align with the community's cultural needs.
According to Algirdas Ramanauskas, the finance director of the hospitality complex Monte Pacis, the renovated spaces will host events designed to provide educational, cultural, and historical experiences. Proposed activities include theatrical culinary-historical tours with tastings and visual projections, as well as interactive programs focusing on biblical plant species, medicinal herbs, Pažaislis roses, and traditional food aging and drying practices, supplemented by modern technology. This variety in programming is aimed at engaging both locals and tourists in the rich history and culture of the area.
Monte Pacis has been operating at the Pažaislis Monastery since 2013, and Ramanauskas emphasized that the decision to contribute to the preservation of the ensemble was a natural outcome of their long-term relationship with the site. The initiative is not only seen as a step towards enhancing the functionality of the monastery facilities but also as part of broader efforts to safeguard and promote Lithuania's cultural heritage, thereby attracting more visitors and fostering community engagement with its historical narrative.
