Historical Spaces Will Revive at the Pažaislis Monastery: Visitors Can Participate in Events Throughout the Year
The Pažaislis Monastery's renovation project, valued at nearly 1.6 million euros, aims to restore historic buildings for cultural and educational events year-round.
The Pažaislis Monastery in Lithuania is set for a significant renovation project aimed at reviving neglected historic spaces. With a total project value of almost 1.6 million euros, part of this funding—528.6 thousand euros—comes from a loan provided by the national development bank, ILTE, specifically for the restoration of cultural heritage that requires substantial investment. The initiative reflects a commitment to enhancing the cultural landscape while safeguarding the architectural legacy of the monastery.
According to Algirdas Ramanauskas, the finance director of 'Monte Pacis,' the project focuses on restoring buildings in emergency condition by giving them new purposes. The revitalized spaces are planned to host a variety of events that will combine educational, cultural, and historical experiences. These include theatrical culinary historical tours with tastings, visual projections, as well as interactive programs focused on biblical plant species, medicinal herbs, and old traditions of food ripening and drying, all made accessible through modern technology.
Since 'Monte Pacis' has operated at the Pažaislis Monastery since 2013, the decision to contribute to the preservation of the ensemble has been consistent and based on a long-term vision. The project not only aims to attract visitors throughout the year but also to foster a deeper appreciation for Lithuania's cultural heritage, providing a platform for learning and experiencing the traditions and history associated with the site.
