BR-251 is closed in both directions after an accident between two trucks

An accident involving two trucks has closed the BR-251 in both directions in Francisco Sá, Brazil, with emergency services on-site and no timeline for reopening the road.

On Saturday afternoon, BR-251 in Francisco Sá was closed after a serious accident involving two trucks. The incident occurred at kilometer 464, with traffic halted in both directions. The Federal Highway Police (PRF) are currently on-site managing the situation, and as of the latest update, there is no estimated time for reopening the affected roadway. The accident was worsened by rainy weather conditions at the time.

According to the PRF, one of the trucks was traveling toward Montes Claros when it lost control and slid into a 'L' shape on the road. The second truck, which was heading towards Salinas, attempted to brake but was unable to prevent the frontal collision. The impact resulted in significant disruptions and drew emergency responders to the scene to assist those involved.

The Brazilian Emergency Medical Service (Samu) reported that two men, aged 44 and 53, were injured in the crash. They were transported to Santa Casa de Montes Claros for medical treatment, with one man suspected of having a foot fracture and the other sustaining a mild traumatic brain injury and complaining of neck pain. The PRF also noted that one of the trucks was carrying tarpaulins while the other was empty, adding to the complexity of the accident response and cleanup effort.
