Eid-el-Fitr: NRC to run three Lagos–Ibadan train trips Monday
The Nigerian Railway Corporation will operate three additional train trips on the Lagos–Ibadan route on Monday to accommodate increased passenger volume during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that it will be running three extra train trips on the Lagos–Ibadan corridor to accommodate the surge in passengers traveling for the Eid-el-Fitr festivities. This decision comes in response to the high passenger turnout often experienced during this festive period. Mr. Callistus Unyimadu, the Chief Public Relations Officer of NRC, shared the updated schedule, stating that the extra trips are aimed at easing passenger movement and providing more travel options for those returning from the celebrations.
The added train departures from Lagos' Mobolaji Johnson Station will be at 7:45 a.m., 1:40 p.m., and 4:00 p.m., while trains from Ibadan's Obafemi Awolowo Station will leave at 8:00 a.m., 10:50 a.m., and 4:30 p.m. The NRC emphasizes the importance of early arrival at the stations, along with compliance with ticketing and security procedures, to ensure a smooth travel experience for all passengers. This move highlights the NRC's commitment to providing safe, reliable, and efficient rail services during peak travel times.
This initiative not only facilitates travel during a significant religious holiday but also underscores the importance of public transportation in managing large passenger volumes during key periods. As Eid-el-Fitr draws many Nigerians to their families and communities, the NRC’s provision of additional services aims to enhance convenience and maintain safety standards, ultimately supporting the mass movement of people during this festive occasion.
