NRC adds extra Sallah train services on major routes

The Nigerian Railway Corporation has announced additional train services to accommodate increased passenger traffic during Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has taken proactive steps to accommodate the anticipated rise in passenger demand during the Eid-el-Fitr festivities by introducing extra train services across its major routes. The announcement was made by Callistus Unyimadu, the Chief Public Relations Officer of the NRC, emphasizing the importance of facilitating travel during this significant time for many Nigerians. The additional services are intended to ensure that rail transport remains safe, reliable, and efficient, allowing for smoother travel experiences during the celebration period.

Specifically, the Lagos-Ibadan corridor will benefit from this initiative with three extra train trips scheduled for Thursday, March 19. These trips are designed to provide more options for passengers, alleviating potential congestion and ensuring that travelers are able to reach their destinations without undue delays. With departures throughout the day from both Ebute Metta and Moniya, the service aims to enhance accessibility for individuals traveling to celebrate the holiday with family and loved ones.

Furthermore, the Abuja-Kaduna route will also see increased operations with two trips on the same day, soon to rise to three as the celebrations progress. This move signals the NRC's understanding of the cultural significance of Eid-el-Fitr and the need for enhanced mobility during high-demand periods. The additional services are expected to be well-received by passengers, reflecting the NRC's commitment to meeting the transportation needs of Nigerians during important occasions.
