At the World Indoor Athletics Championships in ToruΕ, Poland, Rasmus Roosleht has made his mark in the men's heptathlon, currently holding the eighth position after completing three disciplines. The competition is intense, with additional events such as high jump set for Friday evening, where three medal sets will be awarded. Viewers can catch the evening program of the first day of competition on ETV2, featuring commentary from Helar Osila and Juhan Kilumets, along with a live blog provided by ERR's sports portal.
The heptathlon features 14 athletes, including Roosleht, who is representing Estonia. Although Estonia had two entries for the event, the other participant, Johannes Erm, opted out of the indoor season, allowing for Risto Lillemets to potentially fill in. Unfortunately, Lillemets suffered an injury earlier in the year during a competition in Tallinn and has not yet fully recovered, leaving Roosleht to carry the torch.
Last year, Roosleht competed at the European Indoor Championships in the Netherlands, where he set a personal record of 6062 points and achieved seventh place. His current performances are being closely monitored, as he strives to improve upon his previous records and make a significant impact at this year's World Championships, which could enhance his status in the athletics community.
