WATCH LIVE & BLOG | Roosleht started the World Championships with a poor time, Ehammer set a record
Estonian athlete Rasmus Roosleht began his campaign at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Torun, Poland, underwhelmingly, while Ehammer broke a record.
This weekend, the World Indoor Athletics Championships are taking place in Torun, Poland, featuring various events in which Estonian athletes are competing. Among them is Rasmus Roosleht, a multi-event athlete, and runner Uku Renek Kronbergs. The first day's morning program is being broadcast live on ETV, where commentators Helar Osila and Juhan Kilumets will provide insights and coverage of the events. Additionally, ERR's sports portal is running a live blog to keep track of the competitions.
In the men's heptathlon, a total of 14 athletes are set to compete, including Rasmus Roosleht. Estonia had secured two spots for the heptathlon in Torun, but Johannes Erm decided to sit out the indoor season in early March. As a replacement, Risto Lillemets could have participated; however, he has been sidelined due to an injury sustained during an international multi-event competition in Tallinn back in February, meaning he was not fully recovered to take part being at this crucial stage.
Last year, Roosleht competed at the European Indoor Championships in the Netherlands, where he achieved a personal best of 6062 points, finishing in seventh place. His progress indicates potential for growth, yet starting the World Championships with less-than-ideal results raises questions about his readiness and strategy going forward in this prestigious and competitive event.
