Four Estonian athletes participate in the Indoor World Championships in Athletics

The Estonian Athletics Federation has confirmed the participation of four athletes in the upcoming Indoor World Championships in Torun, Poland.

The Estonian Athletics Federation held a meeting on Wednesday to finalize the national team set to participate in the Indoor World Championships scheduled from March 20 to 22 in Torun, Poland. Four athletes will represent Estonia in different events: pole vaulter Marleen MΓΌlla, hurdler Kreete Verlin, multi-event athlete Rasmus Roosleht, and 800-meter runner Uku Renek Kronbergs.

Kronbergs will begin his competitions on March 20, followed by Roosleht participating on the 20th and 21st, while MΓΌlla and Verlin are scheduled to compete on the 22nd. Notably, there were last-minute withdrawals from the competition including multi-event athletes Johannes Erm and Risto Lillemets, who were initially set to participate but opted out. Their withdrawal opened up opportunities for other athletes, but sprinter Ann Marii Kivikas and hurdler Anna Maria Millend also decided not to compete, choosing instead to focus on preparation for the outdoor season.

This year's Indoor World Championships are significant not just as a competitive milestone for the athletes involved but also for Estonian athletics as a whole, especially given the recent turn of events and strategic decisions made regarding the team. With four athletes now confirmed, Estonia aims to make a strong impression at these championships, and their participation reflects ongoing efforts to promote and develop athletics in the country as they prepare for future international competitions.
