Landslide blocks road in Taubaté; city also reports flooding

A landslide has blocked the Estrada do Macuco in Taubaté following heavy rains, while the city also reports flooding in multiple neighborhoods.

The Estrada do Macuco in Taubaté was blocked due to a landslide that occurred on the night of Thursday, the 19th, after heavy rains struck the region. The affected stretch is located near the border with Pindamonhangaba, in the Estrada do Pouso Frio area. Local authorities have reported that teams will start clearing the blockage on the morning of Friday, the 20th, and fortunately, no injuries have been reported from the incident.

According to the Civil Defense, this landslide is part of a series of incidents related to the recent heavy rainfall in the city. Among the key emergency responses have been reports of flooding in neighborhoods such as Campos Elíseos and Três Marias. Additionally, a significant flood event was noted in the João Dias da Silva tunnel, and there have also been reports of fallen trees in the Jardim das Nações and Jardim Paulista neighborhoods.

As part of the continued assessment of the situation, an inspection has been scheduled for the morning of Friday in the Imaculada neighborhood due to a resident’s report of a crack in a home’s wall. This collective response highlights the municipality's ongoing efforts to address and mitigate the impacts of the severe weather conditions affecting the area, emphasizing the need for community vigilance during such events.
