Kwara senator empowers 60 youths, distributes computers
Senator Lola Ashiru of Kwara South has trained 60 youths in ICT and distributed computers as part of his empowerment initiatives.
Lola Ashiru, the Senator for Kwara South, has successfully trained 60 young individuals in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and provided them with personal computer systems. This initiative is part of a broader empowerment program aimed at uplifting constituents across the various local government areas in his district. According to his Senior Legislative Aide, Mr. Yunus Alabi, this training marks the fifth session since Ashiru took office, reflecting his ongoing commitment to equip youths with essential technology skills.
The recent training session took place in Offa and was strategically scheduled to coincide with the Ramadan period, which included arrangements for participants traveling from outside areas such as Oyun and Offa. This consideration not only facilitated participation but also underscored the senator's attention to the well-being of attendees by providing accommodation and meals during Sahur and Iftar. Alabi noted that the participants came from diverse backgrounds, including students and those engaged in various trades, indicating a strong interest in acquiring ICT skills across different professions.
Ashiru's empowerment initiatives focus on enhancing the technological capabilities of the youth, thereby preparing them for the modern job market. As the world increasingly relies on digital solutions, such training aligns well with the needs of the economy and could help reduce unemployment rates among young people in the region. The senator's efforts could also foster a community of skilled youths who are poised to contribute meaningfully to the local economy, further emphasizing the significance of such empowerment programs in driving social and economic development in the state.
