50 Osun youths mentored against cybercrime
A mentorship camp in Ile-Ife, Osun State, trained 50 youths on discipline and the dangers of cybercrime.
In a proactive effort to combat cybercrime, 50 youths from Osun State attended a four-day residential sports and mentorship camp organized by the Ife Youth Sport Development Initiative in Ile-Ife. This initiative was aimed at not only nurturing the talents of the participants but also instilling discipline and encouraging a societal stance against cybercrime. The camp offered various activities including training sessions focusing on cybersecurity awareness.
Renowned cybersecurity expert Dr. Kazeem Durodoye led a vital training session on the implications of engaging in cybercrime. He underscored the necessity of educating youths on the responsibilities associated with internet usage and the potential consequences of cyber fraud. This instructional session was part of a wider initiative to create advocates within the community who would discourage cybercrime and promote responsible behavior online.
The event was part of a larger program titled the Cybersecurity Education and Awareness Programme, aiming to empower the younger generation to understand the significance of cybersecurity and their roles in preventing cybercrime. By developing a more aware and informed youth, the initiative hopes to foster a safer online environment and reduce the prevalence of internet fraud, marking a significant step towards combating cybercrime at the grassroots level in Nigeria.
