NITDA equips Enugu youths with digital tools
The National Information Technology Development Agency has equipped 50 young innovators in Enugu State with digital tools to promote digital inclusion and economic growth.
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has launched an initiative aimed at empowering youth in Enugu State, Nigeria, by providing digital tools to 50 selected young innovators. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to deepen digital inclusion and stimulate the development of a knowledge-driven economy within the region. The event also highlighted the critical support provided by Governor Peter Mbah, which NITDA acknowledges as instrumental for the success of its South-East Zonal Office, which is now recognized among the best-performing offices across the country.
Kashifu Inuwa, the NITDA Director-General, who was represented by Dr. Aristotle Onumo, spoke on the importance of this empowerment program, emphasizing that the transition of Enugu from a coal-dependent region to a knowledge-based economy is vital. Once known for its coal resources that powered various industries, Enugu is now shifting its focus towards harnessing the creativity and innovative potential of its youth. Inuwa's remarks underlined a positive outlook for the state, connecting the transformation to its younger population's talents and determination.
This initiative plays a crucial role in addressing digital disparities within Nigeria and is a step toward equipping the youth with necessary skills that are increasingly in demand. The emphasis on digital tools not only aims to foster innovation but also to prepare them for participation in a global economy that is becoming more technology-driven. Such programs can lead to future advancements and establish a more diversified economic foundation for the state and the region as a whole.
