Myongji University, Ministry of Education's On-site Visit and Performance Check of the Semiconductor Specialization University Support Project

Myongji University hosted a visit from the Ministry of Education and KIAT on March 18 to assess the accomplishments of their Semiconductor Specialization University Support Project.

On March 18, Myongji University, led by President Lim Yeon-soo, welcomed officials from the Ministry of Education and the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Evaluation and Planning (KIAT) to review the results of the Semiconductor Specialization University Support Project. The event featured key figures including the Director of AI Talent Support from the Ministry and various representatives from KIAT, as well as faculty members from the semiconductor engineering department. They toured the university's facilities focusing on semiconductor education and practical training, emphasizing the significant infrastructure developed for this specialized area.

The attendees explored various state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities, including semiconductor eco-foundations, analysis labs, and processing fabs. This hands-on inspection allowed them to evaluate the teaching environment provided to students, particularly in practical courses such as 'Vacuum Technology Practice.' The visit aimed to scrutinize Myongji University's semiconductor educational infrastructure and discuss the future development direction of the project that aims to foster skilled professionals in the semiconductor field through academic and industry collaboration.

As a designated Semiconductor Specialization University, Myongji University is committed to developing semiconductor talent based on industry collaboration. Under the leadership of Professor Hong Sang-jin, the Semiconductor Talent Development Project team has set crucial educational areas focusing on materials, components, and equipment, as well as testing and packaging. Moreover, in collaboration with Hoseo University, Myongji is enhancing its educational framework through a joint degree program in semiconductor testing and packaging equipment, showcasing its dedication to creating a robust educational system that prepares students for real-world industry scenarios in various semiconductor processes.
